Do we really need two fingers to zoom in

on a screen?

When others were attempting to develop new gestures for smartphone touch, we asked ourselves a fundamental question.
What if we could use just one finger to navigate our smartphones with a single touch?
All previous finger touch gestures were based on 2D technology using X and Y coordinates. We imagined the possibility of advancing to a one-step, 3D touch technology by adding a new Z coordinate.

We made numerous attempts to detect the Z-axis but encountered multiple failures. However, we eventually stumbled upon a breakthrough discovery—a hidden gap behind the smartphone display that allows the entire screen to bend when pressure is applied. To validate this finding, we quickly created a prototype using inexpensive conductive tape. Through experimentation, we confirmed the ability to detect an electrical signal when pressing the smartphone screen. Building on this pivotal discovery, we successfully implemented 3D Touch technology in multiple smartphone models, enabling us to provide various single-touch UX/UI experiences that are exclusive to HIDEEP.
