Display technology is continuously advancing towards thinner, larger, and more flexible form factors. However, such progress has brought forth a new challenge – inaccurate touch due to bigger display noise. In flexible OLED displays, the distance between the on-cell touch sensor and the display has decreased by approximately 1/20 when compared to rigid OLED displays. As a result, the distance between the touch sensor and the noise source has become significantly closer, resulting in a display noise that is about 10 times bigger.

Changes in the display structure can result in distorted touch signals, posing a challenge for touch controllers to obtain clean signals. Despite extensive efforts, no existing touch controller has completely resolved this issue, and software-based approaches are currently the only available means to filter out noise that impacts touch sensors.
